Set in Joseon in the 18th century, in a period of time where a complicated political situation exists under King Jeongjo, Kim Min (famed as Detective K) and Seo-pil join a beautiful vampire in suffer from amnesia, and they find vampire bite goals. on the body. I have to thank Leila for putting me in this film - the third Detective K. film. This is a Korean series about an eighteenth-century Korean detective and, like Rampant, it's a period film set. Also, like the zombie movies, it has comedic elements but, in tone, it ties it more subtly into the overall film. You will also notice that it has other textual elements in common.
The film is set in 1789 and talks about the bloodsuckers who appear in the kingdom. When given a little background, we see a man digging a grave and being told that vampires are strong, recover fast, can fly and fire is the way to kill them. The coffin contains a charred body and leaks blood onto it but runs into the forest as soldiers begin to enter the woods. He was seriously injured when the discarded knife got stuck in his throat. A resurrected woman (Kim Ji-win) comes to him and gives her the bag before dying. He was caught on the edge of a cliff, shot, came off the edge but then flew off into the distance.
Detective Kim Min (Kim Myung-min) - K - and his "Watson" Seo-pil (Oh Dal-su), hide in a roadshow, where they disguise themselves as magicians and assistants. K actually manages to injure Seo-pil during the sword fight through box fraud but the main reason why they're there is because of the vampires - because suspicious deaths followed the show. A kid is kidnapped from the crowd and K intercepts but finds that the show owner and the kid are the killers but not because they are vampires. One of them had porphyria and they were drawing blood to treat it (again, that's the wrong look at porphyria and how it causes people to act).
Elsewhere a man wanders through the streets with a bite to his throat, he falls and turns around, where he is struck by a flaming arrow (from outside at night). The fire burned him from the inside out. Wife contacts K to come and investigate the mysteriously burned man (second such death) - they will be holding a royal moon festival, the first in 30 years, and the King will be in attendance. The interstellar connection with Rampant that I mentioned has its origins in the vampire origin, which is a European wreck on the beach with a vampire on board. Similarly, the Rampant zompire comes off a European ship and talks about a monster coming from Europe - whether it's general commentary on Western colonialism, the pervasiveness of European culture in general, or media commentary on traditional folklore creatures are replaced by the West. . mob. Other than that, it's a fancy movie with some great comedy moments, including lots of slapstic ways - but it does a very good job of slapstick. All three main characters work great.
